# Importing 3D Objects

***

### Storing Local Assets

We recommend that you save your assets at the *Documents/VideoCopilot/* **Models** and **Material** folder, as that is where Element will default to link files. Storing models at that location will allow models to be accessed in the Element Model Browser. If you do not want to store a model in that location, you can manually import models via the Import button as well.

### MODEL BROWSER

By storing your 3d assets (obj or c4d files) at one of the above locations, you will\
be able to access your model using the [Model Browser](https://www.videocopilot.net/help/element/help_files_v2/user_interface/panel_descriptions_preview_browser_etc/#model_browser). If your assets are missing after you've moved them to one of the above location, Element was\
open when you moved your 3D assets to the location, you may need to close the Element 3D window and reopen it.
